110. Allosaurus fragilis
Pathological and Normal Fourth Toe (Set)

Allosaurus fragilis Late Jurassic
Western North America

Life as a predatory dinosaur was rough and tumble. Battling over prey, carcasses, mates, and territory could easily result in an injury.

The bone overgrowth in this specimen is not as massive as in 105, but the joint surface for the rest of the toe is completely destroyed and there are large, deep pits for draining pus.

A normal fourth toe bone is included for comparison.
